Just an embarrassment; Scotland bottom of the EU list; Propaganda tit for tat

Just an embarrassment, Daily Mail, A McKay, 04/01/21.

WOULD it have been too much to expect a little grace and dignity from the SNP regarding the UK’s departure from the EU? I voted Remain and would rather the UK had stayed. All we have had from the Nationalists is petty recrimination and grievances. The fantasy currency suggestions and orders to Europe to ‘keep the lights on for Scotland’ are hog-wash and do the SNP no favours, at least among those with the ability to think and reason. It merely confirms what many think – they are a group of zealots and fantasists, led by obsession-ists, who are an embarrassment to all free-thinking Scots. ALEXANDER MCKAY, Edinburgh.

Scotland bottom of the EU list, The Herald, T Jackson, 04/01/21.

NICOLA Sturgeon has asked the EU to “keep a light on for Scotland”. But before any question of Scotland’s EU membership, the SNP would need to win a referendum on independence. And even if it did, Scotland would be bottom of the list of candidate EU members, as it is unable to fulfil the necessary economic, fiscal and monetary EU membership criteria. The EU is therefore unlikely to waste its electricity. Tim Jackson. Gullane, East Lothian

Propaganda tit for tat, The Herald, Willie Towers, 04/01/21.

Propaganda tit for tat I HAD to chuckle at Mhairi Black’s description of the Scotland Office as little more than a “Tory propaganda unit”. Has she read the Scottish Government’s White Paper Scotland’s Future, which set out the case for independence in the lead-up to the 2014 referendum? The expression involving pots and kettles come to mind. Willie Towers, Alford.
