A police officer was left injured and nine youths have been charged after a night of “unacceptable” disorder in Dundee.

Emergency services were called to Broughty Ferry on Sunday evening after receiving reports of disorder.

Nine youths, aged between 12 and 15, have been charged in connection with offences including police assault, possession of weapon and rioting.

A police officer suffered a minor injury as a result of the incident. Enquiries remain ongoing at this time.

Inspector Graeme Templar descried the evening as “unacceptable” and that enquiries are ongoing to identify everyone responsible.

Inspector Graeme Templar said: “One officer suffered a minor injury as a result of the disorder.

“Yesterday’s events are totally unacceptable. We will not tolerate criminality of this nature in Dundee and we will deal robustly with any such incidents.
