Two teenagers were taken to hospital after taking drugs at a school in Dumfries and Galloway on Wednesday.

The 13-year-olds reported feeling unwell and informed staff at Dalbeattie High School that drugs had been consumed.

Both were taken by ambulance to Dumfries and Galloway Royal Hospital where they were checked over by staff and later discharged.

A Dumfries and Galloway Council spokesperson said: “We are aware of an incident that took place yesterday involving two S2 pupils at Dalbeattie High School.

“The pupils reported feeling unwell late yesterday morning and informed school staff that they had both consumed drugs.

“Both pupils were taken to Dumfries and Galloway Royal Infirmary to be examined, and were later discharged following that examination.
