THERE have been more than 100 sex attacks at hospitals in the last four years, we can reveal.

The shocking figure covers reports to cops from victims at 16 Scots treatment hubs.

But the true scale of the horror is likely to be much greater as figures were not available for the vast majority of the country’s 105 hospitals.

Women’s Rights Network Scotland found one in six attacks took place on wards — with women, men and kids targeted.

Mary Howden, of the campaign group, told The Scottish Sun: “Sex crimes are under-reported so this just the tip of the iceberg. People go to hospitals when at their most vulnerable. Nobody should fear being attacked there.

“An end to mixed-gender wards once and for all would be a step in the right direction.”

Patients and staff reported 101 offences, including eight rapes, at 16 hospitals since January 2019.

Gartnavel General, Glasgow, had 14 sex attacks, with four on wards and four people charged.

Cygnet Wallace Hospital, a 10-bed private unit in Dundee, had 13 attacks, seven of them on wards.
