The Scottish Government is continuing to rent a plush £500,000 office in Brussels – three years after Britain left the EU.
Scotland House – run by an arm’s-length taxpayer-funded company – is a few yards from the European Commission’s headquarters.
The EU closed its office in Edinburgh after Brexit and opposition parties have now questioned whether retaining a presence in Brussels is the best use of public money.
The Lib Dems said: “The Scottish Government should be clear about what benefits this office has provided to the Scottish public and economy.
“Having a Brussels office which can promote our world-class produce and strike links with economic partners across the EU is sensible. Having an office which serves as little more than a backdrop for SNP ministerial photo ops is not.”
